NEIGHBOR Matthew 22:34-40

Tonight, Jesus teaches us how we should live our lives to the fullness. Jesus reveals to us the meaning of our life here on earth. It is Love. Love God and Love our neighbors.

Imagine we lost that capacity to Love. Imagine one day, we wake up, taking no pleasure in anything anymore, liking noting and no one, and being liked by no one. Being robbed of the capacity for loving and cannot love anymore. That is absolute emptiness & Darkness…. Brothers & Sisters, that is an image of what Hell would be like.

Opposite to that emptiness & Darkness, Opposite to that place called Hell would be Heaven. To find Heaven, Jesus teaches us to Love…. It is both the fundamental rule and the ultimate aim of Life.

It is here that we come to the mystery of the grain of wheat, to the mystery of losing oneself and finding oneself. Love cannot be made. It is given to us. It just happens; it comes to us from someone else; it enters into us. We cannot create it nor can we force it upon us. It has to be freely given. Jesus showed it to us on the cross. He gave his Love for us by dying on the Cross.

Now, he asks us to do the same for our Neighbor. To die to ourselves & To give our Love to God & our Neighbor.
